I am soon moving to South Korea to teach English. More specifically, after I graduate; it will probably be sometime in early June. I have been looking at recruiting agencies, primarily a place called Gone2Korea. Has anyone ever heard of them, or better yet dealt with this agency? If so, any feedback would be greatly appreciated. Moreover, would anyone reading this post recommend I go through an agency or attempt to go at it alone, seeing as how I have no experience with this whatsoever? Thank you.
The website for Gone2Korea is:

We had a great experience with Gone2Korea. My boyfriend and I went through their service early this year with no problems or complaints. They provided alot of information about the school, including photos, and everything was 'as expected' when we arrived. We've since recommended a few of our friends to Gone2Korea and they've also had pleasant experiences with the company. I can't really vouch for all the schools they work with, but we nor the people we recommended have had problems with their services.

My experience was the opposite, they placed in me in a terrible school with a dictatorial wonjangnim. There was no support offered when the afermentioned prat fired me because I couldn't speak with a North American accent. However, I would say they organised every thing to perfection to get me here. The school was just a complete let down and the working atmosphere was awful for all those who worked there. I also take full responsibility for the situation I got myself into. I didn't do enough research and I only spoke to the waygook I was replacing. This individual told me a load of old bull, of course he just wanted out. Two things to remember:
Research, research and research.
Recruiters don't work for you, but the school. If they can find a replacement they will because they receive a recruiting fee. So, it's pot luck in many respects with which ever recruiter you choose. Be sure to do your homework, and a public gig opposed to the murky hogwon business perhaps is the better option for a newbie. Yes, you can find good hogwons but you perhaps need to be here and know from a reliable source it's a good deal. Seems foolish to take the risk in my opinion. |

The recruiters are not responsible for much.
They get your resume and shop you around to a few schools.
The first one to call them back get to interview you.
You give it a thumbs up or a thumbs down.
Let them know what you liked or disliked about the position.
READ THE CONTRACT.
Find out what you about the school can from independent sources.
Post contract in the contract thread, wait until you hear from Ttompatz. |
