I've had problems for a number of years now with stomach bloating and abdominal cramping. I've also gained a lot of weight regardless of how little I've eaten or how much I exercised. I've had the full volley of GI tests done on me and the doctors said everything looked O.K.. My current doctor thinks I may have IBS, but he has also sent me to an allergist for testing for food allergies. I also have a history of airborn allergies and asthma. Anyway, my question.....is anyone lactose intolerant or have Celiacs Disease (gluten)? If so, how did they determine this? Scratch tests? Blood tests? Thanks for any input you could provide.

I can not eat Korean and Chinese because I get the poops right away.

Milk here is dirty stuff, too, and a lot of the veggies are from China.

You might want to see a specialist. It could also be stress. weight gain, intestinal problems could all be stress related too.

Thanks fo the links, PK. They're very informative. Stress has certainly been a part of my life, but I think that the doctor might be on to something with the allergy connection. The strange thing about that is my age. I'm pushing 40 and I've only just experienced the abdominal problems in the last 3 years. If it is a lactose or gluten intolerance, then why am I just getting it at this point in my life? Honestly, I don't have a darn clue Confused . That's why I'm fishing for other people's experiences in this matter. Thanks again.

I went to a doctor here and he told me that I'm fine. He attributed the problem to unhygienic restaurants.

Note that I can eat Chinese food in North America.
