Background: I am a US gyopo, and I'm in Korea now for the Summer, taking Level 1 of the Korean Language program at Sogang. Most of my relatives live here, of course.
My aunt (who lives in Yong-in) has a friend who, with her husband and two children, will be living in Denver for a year starting in August. I guess because I am a high school teacher by profession (!?!?) I was asked to tutor the children in English, and maybe some Math, to get them ready for school in Denver. The daughter is 14 and the son is 13. I don't know how much English they know. The idea is for me to visit the family for 3 weekends (starting the weekend after next) and work with the kids (both at the same time) for 2 hours each on Saturday and Sunday.
I was a little hesitant about this because I have no experience with ESL. But given my current plan of living like a pauper for the next school year in the US so that I can attend Sogang's Level 2 next summer, it seemed that I should give it a shot. The only question is, what would be a fair rate to charge my aunt's friend to work with her 2 kids at the same time for a total of 12 hours? Those of you who teach English to privates, how much do you charge?
Thanks,
