Someone just posted on long term renting of appartments etc.
But if you can't afford big key money, what are the options? I've seen a few ads for shared houses on eslspectrum.
Is this a grey area in Korea? I gather Koreans don't do this.
As I'm looking for a job teaching adults, most housing seems to be shared with another teacher. I'd rather avoid this, but key money is a stumbling block.
Any ways around this? Others must have been in the same situation.

The last time I taught in Korea, I was offered a shared appartment. I said no way, I need my own space and will not share. Two weeks of silence and 'hello, we have a single appartment for you'. Bide your time and stick to what you want. |

I have a long wants list for what will be my first job in Korea. In many ways I'd rather have my own place to live independent of the job, so holding out for a nice single appartment on top of everything else seems too much.
I'm interested in the pros and cons of finding a shared house independently of the school.
Anybody have any success/horror stories or advice to offer.
Thanks

I seem to recall the discussion forum/classified section attached to the English section of the Korea Herald website had a lot of 'looking for roommate' type ads.
With regard to setting up a shared house situation, there was a thread about that a while back. Good idea, but hard to implement, and impossible, I'd say, without someone Korean helping. |
