If they cut the movie off early and cut off the credits, technically it isn't saving them any time. Films are on, well, film. There is no rewind/fast forward button. A movie has to run all the way to the end of the reel before it can be played again from the beginning. This is why if a film messes up in the middle of the movie, chances are slim that it will get up and running again, and you will probably just get a refund and be sent home.
That doesn't exactly answer your question, but just a tidbit of info for you. I used to spool up movies at a cinema in the States. It's a real pain in the ass, and is generally done the night before the movie starts showing. |

well, if they never build the credits into the reel in the first place, or cut them out, that would save them time. |
