Hey everyone,

You probably are used to getting loads of posts from 1st timers who dont know where to go when teaching in Korea. Anyway, I have had 3 job offers so far, all private schools offering more or less the same benefits, in Seoul (Gangbuk) Bundang and Busan. I am looking for somewhere with a good nightlife - the opportunity to meet loads of foreigners. Somewhere with good sports facilities near by, e.g. Gym, swimming pool, and somewhere there is good shopping.

Can anyone help make my mind up for me whe choosing from these 3 locations through giving advantages and disadvantages ?

Thanks to all in advance

Michael

I was talking to a guy in Bundang recently and he said its crap. He might just be a whiner though.

Busan is really nice apparently, but its also really far away and isolated.

I'd say Seoul, because you really can't go wrong with a place that large. It has everything.

Bundang -gu is more of a family area--a cleaner area compared to Busan and Seoul, and the nightlife is limited. There are gyms and shopping areas all over Korea--Busan is more conservative than Seoul, but it offers all those things you are looking for, and it is a bit cheaper to live than Seoul--or at least it was three years ago. And there is the famous Haeundae beach where you can party during the summer months!! Seoul is the largest of the three, so of course it offers everything you are looking for too. I am not sure about swimming pools....I found it difficult to find a swimming pool in Busan. There is a YMCA in Bundang in the ORi area. I am sure Seoul has lots, but I have never lived there, just visited. I know that Bundang is a quieter area than the other two cities, something important if you like your sleep during the work week. There are foreigners everywhere, so you will have no problem meeting them. Liking them is the question!!!

Still not as bad as the "What's better - Seoul or Jeju?" threads.

OP, just make a chart and compare the pros and cons of each location. There is tons of information available here and on the internet, so it isn't very hard. No location will have it all, but the three you mentioned should have enough to make you happy.

(Personally, I think I'd go with Bundang).
