| OK...i am going to Taiwan for several days....what suggestions are out there for a.........i dont drink or surf or mountain climb AND don't really want to take an Asian see-everything bus tour....and can i go to Mt. Alisan or the Gorge or the East Coast in a day trip from Taipei~it would be easier to leave my junk /stay at one place the entire time..... thanks, mom |

Hi there,
I have no hesitation in recommending Taipei Holo Hostel. It is 550 NT a night which is cheap but the guy there is great and will always help you. It is in the middle of the city so if you don't mind a busy couple of days. You get your own space but share the bathroom.
One thing though, when I stayed in the room the fluro lights outside shine in at night keeping a person up. He amicably changed my room to the dormitory which was sharing a big room with a lot more people but nice and dark. Maybe a sleeping mask would be recommended. The place is right opposite Taipei Main Station I can send you details directly if you want.
Apart from that Taipei has way cool night markets and great chinese food everywhere. Smoggy and dirty though, you may want to take a day trip. The hostel fellow, Joe will oblige. |
