Hello,

Im in the process of trying to find work in South Korea and was interested to know peoples opinions of where the nicest areas of the country to work are. Obviously this is very subjective and there are many ways to judge a place but overall impressions and opinions would be great. Im sort of looking in the Soeul suburbs region at the moment and have talked to schools in Ansan, Bundang, Inchon and daegu so any opions on these areas would be great. Thanks for your time.

What you'll find is all Korean cities are basically depressingly the same. There is little originality so each city is the same as the next.
The nicest place is the countryside but I wouldn't recommend that on your first year here, you'll go insane with the lack of English interactivity(good for learning Korean though).

DOnt come to Naju!!! I am here and there are shit all foreigners. But if a few people were to come here it would be a great place.

Find somewhere with a foreigner community where they all go out and do stuff. You can go to Seoul and you can change your friends every week (dont take seriously only because i couldnt spell literatery???).

Yes smaller places have less english interaction but it is easier to learn Korean and you can explore the country. Also near big cities and Korea is small and you can get around anywhere pretty quickly.

Smaller places are cheaper and if you are in Seoul you might never leave the place and see Korea. Seoul you can be sucked into a place where every week you do the same stuff ie go to Hondae. Not such a bad thing but it can take its toll.

If its your first year in Korea i'd advise against working in Seoul for your first year. But if you are only here for a year, working in Seoul might be a good thing.

The 'burbs have cleanER air, and a few of them are new cities, so they're kinda nice. Ilsan or Bundang are not bad. There is an abundance of foreigners. If you came here for some adventure, I'd recommend being right inside Seoul. Might be dirty and noisy, but you will save yourself countless hours on the subway and bus.

Nicest is hard to say, but I'd suggest a city that's not very small. Anything under 100,000 people will probably result in extreme culture shock, but too big, and you miss a lot of the good stuff about being here.

A reasonably central location even in a smaller city can make a big difference.

Come to Ulsan! I've lived in Kwangju, Chuncheon, Seoul, Cheonan, but this place is very nice! Has a Japanese mild climate, close to Pusan and the Japan boat. Close to Pusan, a big city. Has fresh sea around, beaches. A million population. Rivers and mountains nearby. Historical sites.

Good advice.

The burbs are cleaner and quieter but pretty boring so you'll find yourself constantly on the subway in the search for entertainment.

Central Seoul is probably the best bet for a first-timer. Especially if you're from a city yourself.

Central Seoul sucks!!!!! Too bloody crazy and noisy. Give me a middle of the road city for me with occasioanl trips to the big smoke. i came to korea to experience something new, not gravitate back toward caucasian mongoloids Razz . I am serious about the centre of Seoul sucking though.

Ive been all over, but the best is BY FAR the south coast between Busan and Namhae. The weather kicks butt, and you have some great beaches to choose from, especially on Namhae.

Geoje-do is beautiful. All mountains and the sea. There's a huge shipping industry there, so lot of foreigners from all over the world like Greece, Russia, Australia, etc.

Check out one of the many boat tours:

A great place to live if you have a girlfriend or friends...can get pretty isolated if you're alone.

1 hour South of Pusan by ferry. 2 1/2 hours by bus.
