Quote:
"Many people, including Kyuma, believe that the atomic bombs stopped Japan's 'aggression,' but Japan did not fight a war of aggression," said Tojo, who claimed the war was fought to liberate the "nonwhite" colonies in Asia from the "whites."

"If there was one mistake, however, it was the fact that we lost. And if my grandfather is to blame, it's not because he started the war but because we lost," Tojo said, adding she wants the Japanese people to regain the pride they had before the wartime defeat.

Not much weirder than Alessandra Mussolini being elected to the European Parliament, or Park Geunhye running for president. Still weird though.

It's not her running, or her identity that's strange. It's her comments. It frightens me that a person can state the old party line from 1943 and still have a chance at getting elected in Japan.

How do you know this isn't true?

Uh, maybe because Japan oppressed Korea and Manchukuo when they were colonies, and redefined the word savage when they attacked other cities.

Ask yourself this: were Koreans allowed to speak their native language or keep their original names? If Japan was protecting them, why not preserve their culture and language too?

Well, even if we could swallow the Greater East Asia Co-Prosperity Sphere bullsh*t, isn't it openly racist and divisive? And furthermore I....oh c'mon, do I really need to argue against facist Japanese ideology?

Well, probably because they wanted to conquer all of Asia and govern centrally as was Hitler's plan for most of the world. I think they were acting as a reaction to Hitler...wanting to keep Asia under Asian rule.

So germany invades poland in 1939 and Japan reacts to it by annexing Korea in 1910? Man, they can build a time machine, but they can't build an A-bomb.
