BBQ season is here, and I've got plenty of ground lamb in my freezer. I tried all the bakeries in my neighbourhood, as well as EMart, but I can't for the life of me find hamburger buns. The closest I've found are those little biscuit buns, which doesn't do a burger justice. I know they must be around since those stalls on the street selling "burgers" have loads of them. Anybody have any idea where?

I buy mine at Lotte Mart. Probably best to hit them earlier in the day 'cause they sometimes run out. Packages of 8. Sesame seed.

If they have a butcher section then you can make your own patties by buying ground beef:

Sogogi chara juseyo.

Haha - man, how sad is it when you have to go to CostCo to buy flippin' hot dog buns???

Always shocks me when my students tell me they like hot dogs, it's like, where do you get the freakin' buns?

Hannam Mart (in the Volvo building) has both hot dog and hamburger buns for something like 1000 won. I've found burger buns at Emart as well. Great for shredded pork BBQ sandwiches with cole slaw.

Thanks for the replies. Homeplus and Lotte Mart are a bit farther from where I am, but I guess I'll have to make the trek!

HomePlus has them. But yeah, the lack of hotdog buns riles me. And I'm not about to go to Costso just for that.

In addition to all the examples...your neighbourhood bakery will make you some if you ask (if they don't already have them out). We had a party recently and ran out of b-buns...our bakery whipped up a (whaddya call a ____ of burger buns....batch, set, bag, etc.?). One caveat though, they won't have sesame seeds on them and they're a bit "buttery"...kinda sorta similar to the rolls.

!shoosh,

Ryst

The HomePlus by me sells hamburger patties. (I would guess that they all sell them then.) Mind you they try to pass it off as steak. One of their hawkers spoke English and was asking me if I wanted to sample the steak. When I looked it was a hamburger pattie. Never did taste it.
