I've been told by a couple different people of a teacher who received some weed in the mail from home (not sure where, Canada or US). They were arrested and did like 3-months or something. But they didnt fail the drug test.
Has anyone else heard this story? How can this be right?
What is to keep a disgruntled co-worker from sending you a spliff after going home?
Also heard about somebody who blogged about smoking after visiting Amsterdam and was arrested. (of course this was there own fault) |

I assume when you sign for it, you become liable. Were they arrested after they recieved it? |

I think the story about the guy being arrested for going to Amsterdam involved a Korean. It's illegal for a Korean to go there and try it legally, but they couldn't do anything to us provided we wait long enough to pass a drug test.
The one about the guy getting arrested for some idiot mailing him weed has happened before. There really is nothing you can do about it. |

Just finished a compelling read called Brother One Cell: An American Coming of Age in South Korea's Prisons, by Cullen Thomas.
The guy mailed himself some hash from the Philippines & the book is the story of his 3 & a half years in prison here, back in the 90s.
Quite the tale, & very well written. |

Just finished that book also. It was pretty good, not great imo. Has some good insights. The thing is he got caught the second time he mailed himself the hash, he got away with it the first time. |

That happened to a guy in my town last September. His brother sent him some pot, he signed for it, and they arrested him at his hagwon the next day. He was in prison for a couple months before getting deported.
Whoops. |

So apparently if you dont sign for it your ok?
If its just regular mail you dont sign. I've recieved several packages priority mail from the states and never signed. Also my gf has received a few fedex packages and never had to sign. They just leave it at your school office. (we live there on the 4th floor, its an English Camp) |

I believe the guy was an Aussie and it was in a smaller town. Someone I know took a Hakwan job and had a delay getting his apartment until the Australian Embassy came and moved the guys stuff. |

I knew a girl that got caught in a small town after someone mailed her some pot. She was offered to either stay and face charges or leave. She left.
She returned about 7 months later, and they tried her as soon as she got into the country. Never heard what happened after that...didn't care. |

What a bunch of fools. If you are willing to risk someone shipping weed to you and you get caught, that is what you get. No sympathy. Now, if you didn't know about it...well...that's another tale for another time. |

I know that story, but for confidentiality reasons I won't be naming names.
The man was from the UK and a package came to his school. I don't know if he signed for it, but when he took it, he was arrested. He spent a few weeks locked up during the investigation. Eventually, he was simply deported. I believe they couldn't prove he was guilty of anything but receiving. Someone could've mailed it to him without his request. He also didn't open it before he was arrested. |

Can you explain this law and hypothetical situation more?
If a Korean goes to The Netherlands, are they automatically drug tested upon returning to Korea?
The the ROK finds out a Korean did toke up in Amsterdam, or any other country, what are the penalties? |

Basically, if you are tested and have it in your system, you are 'in posession'. It doesn't matter if you smoked here or elsewhere. However, Immigration doesn't test Koreans coming back from abroad just because they are coming back from places like the Netherlands.
Those cases of celebrities being tested occured because someone tipped off the authorities first. |

So, if I don't like someone I just get someone to mail him some pot.
I'll keep that filed away in evil revenge methods. |
