I download music illegally via bit torrent, but it's not great for obscure stuff sometimes. What's a good site to download music legally? I wouldn't consider Itunes cos I don't have an Ipod and don't like their stuff. Any ideas? |

What's the problem with itunes? As far as legal online downloads, they definitely have the widest selection. |

The best site (legal) that I've found is eMusic... it is a subscription site - although quite cheap with a number of payment options - and has way more non-mainstream selections than iTunes could ever dream of...although I do use iTunes on occasion... |

Why download when you can encode? My Zen MP3 player plugs into a head phone jack, and it lets me encode any sound that comes through the head phone jack, and all I have to do is hit encode while the music is playing and itll transform it to an MP3 format. I think most of the songs I have in it now I got from music videos that I liked off of Youtube. |

Is melon still around? They created it to compete with I-tunes in Korea -- you know how Koreans are about losing control. It costs half as much, but I'm not sure if you can get any obscure stuff. |

Fairly clever, but youtube doesn't have a lot of rare stuff. Also, the quality won't be that good. (It might sound fine if you don't know better, but if you hear it side by side with a CD quality track you'll be surprised at the difference.) |
