http://shop.hsd.co.kr/

I had a look at the menu and my Korean isn't up to scratch at this moment to decipher what's what in the pictures. However it all looks rather tasty, could anyone explain whats what on the menu and how big are portion sizes?

Cheers in advance!

Hmm, it looks like I have to log in to see all the different pages.

Anyway, I love hansot, even moreso since I can't get it in my area. I really like the chicken mayo (or, mayo chicken, I can't remember.) It's chicken, rice, soy sauce, mayonaise, and small strips of egg. Sounds nasty but is really good. It's a smaller portion than you'd get if you ordered bibimbap at a typical restaurant, but it still fills you up for about 2,300 won.

One thing I have noticed Smee is that the food is really cheap (2300 won is about 1 pound 50) for that in England you would get a meat and potato pie and a mars bar Rolling Eyes . Does food across the board tend to be cheap in Korea?

This is probably a better site to get prices, menu items, and the like:

http://www.yangsanhsd.com/

or here for busan:

http://www.hspusan.com/

Although I haven't eaten there since '98, I remember it having half-decent portions and prices. Not the best of food, but not the worst.

Sorry, this is probably the best:

or

Hm, on those sites I couldn't find the few dishes I usually order.

Do you live in Korea now? Have you been to Hansot? I've been to a few different locations, and they have a lot of their dishes on display in the window, and you can basically just point to what you want. You should be able to decipher what it is just by looking.

Food in Korea is fairly cheap compared to the States. You can eat at "diners"---the kimbap restaurants---and get a good meal for between 3 and 5,000 won. That's nearly half what I'd pay back home, as diners are considered chic now. If you eat two meals out a day, plus snack on whatever, you could still spend less than 10,000 won per day. (You may have to fend for yourself for breakfast.) Depending on your preferences it may be cheaper to eat at restaurants every meal that it'd be to cook for yourself.

Anyway, try the mayo chicken (or chicken mayo, it's been a while.) 마요치킨 or 치킨마요.

I have to say that I thought Hansot's food would be horrible since it's really just a take-away lunch box but it's decent for the price.

If you are a big eater then you won't find the portions to be big enough and you'll probably need to eat two. But if you just want something quick until you get a proper dinner, then you can eat it.

It usually has some meat, rice, some salad and kimchi for side dishes. It also comes with a small cup of water.

You can also order an extra portion of meat for half the price.. something like 1000 extra.

Love Hansot!

That's so weird that everyone's all into the chicken mayo - I eat it at least once or twice for breakfast on the way to kindie.

The food's good. The bulgogi is good. Not a huge fan of the namburger patties.

Can't beat it for the speed or price.
