Hi all, just an enquiry to see if anybody knows of any links or books that would be useful for a debating class I have undertaken. The students are adults, and their level is basic to intermediate.
Kind regards The Charge. Thanks in advance |

I tried using a book call "Discover Debate" in an adult class. It's made by compass publishing and I bought my copy at Kyobo.
I think it would work well in your class, but you might want to think of your own debate topics. In my class, the book didn't provide too many topics that interested my students. They were either too silly for adults (cats vs. dogs, baseball vs. soccer) or too serious (lots of stuff about how taxes should be spent) Make sure your students want a debate class! I thought debate would be a good method of introducing conversation topics, but it didn't really work for me. My students didn't want to debate, they wanted to share their experiences and use English in real world situations. |
