Our vet is going on vacation the same week as us and we need to put the pooch somewhere it won't be locked in a cage all day, every day.

We're currently in Pohang but since we'll be flying out of Seoul pretty much anyplace would do. Any suggestions?

where you based? Id take it for a week, but no longer, some people want you to take a dog for like a month, 1 week would be no problem, based in gwangju btw. got a medium sized flat and work 10-6, could swing it by walks 2 times a day

I've recently just found about this boarding centre in Ansung city. A bunch of people from the animal rescue Korea website (I couldnt go, sadly) went to visit it last weekend, and more info on it can be found here

http://www.animalrescuekorea.org/forums/showthread.php?p=4383#post4383.

If that's too far for you, I'd try posting on that website anyway, in the petsitter forum. I'd love to help but will already be looking after a friend's dog for 2 months (so 4 critters altogether). Good luck!

Good luck finding a place that won't keep it locked in a cage all day. I took my dog to the country side and put him in a "doggy hotel". They promised 3 hours of play in the field and at least 2 walks a day. They certainly did not fulfill their promise.

We left him there for 10 days. When we returned his legs were stiff and cramped from sitting in the cage all day and his nut sack skin at gone dry and peeled because of lying on the hard cage floor. He also peeled his nose skin from trying to escape through the cage bars. He had an eye and ear infection and he was visibly stressed and in shock.

My advice, find a friend unless you don't mind your dog being treated like a caged animal.

On the bright side, "doggy hotels" are rather cheap.

how big is the dog? breed/temperament? i'm sure many people would be willing to help you out if you don't mind leaving your dog w/ a stranger. personally, i'm reluctant about leaving mine w/ someone i don't know/trust, but then again...he's a malinois and can be hard to handle.

otherwise, check in and around your town. pohang must be big enough to have other services for dogsitting.

Funny ... we rescued our dog from the street and had no idea what kind of dog he was, we assumed a Jindo/Shepard mix but after looking at pictures of Malinois (had no idea what they were) that could very well be him, or at least a mix of him. He's a bit smaller than described though, about 15 kilograms.

He's about one year old (we think) and a great dog but he's pretty terrified of people, especially Korean children. He does very well indoors, has never had an "accident" and LOVES to chase his tennis balls inside and chase after you outside. When he's alone and in an outside area where he feels enclosed he loves to run around and sniff everything and won't dare to leave. However, whenever anybody shows up in his area he becomes quite frightened and can only watch them from afar. Walking him is also a bit of a challenge since he tries to run away from everyone he sees.

At home he won't leave our side, he follows us EVERYWHERE and can never be close enough, he really is a good dog except for the whole "I hate Koreans" thing although we've all experienced that at some point or another. I was mostly looking for anyplace that someone has put their dog and found that he wasn't locked away all day every day but if someone would like company for a week, I'd be glad to compensate you for your time. We live in Pohang but are flying out of Seoul and I'd be willing to take him anywhere as long as he'd have a good week. Our plan is to leave Saturday, July 26th and come back August 4th but our tickets aren't paid for yet and if we can find a good spot (or someone willing) we'd like to leave a few days earlier.

If anyone out there has a recommendation of a good place to put him or would like to watch after him for a week I would be most appreciative.
