Hello,
I applied for a public school position and completed the interview successfully. The recruiter has all my documents(not any originals), but I have yet to received any letter from POE/NIIED. When I asked about this I was told they were still waiting for teachers to get all of their documents in. I want to receive something signed by POE and a Letter of Appointment before booking a flight. Also, the EPIK website has little information.
Is anyone else new and still waiting, and for those who have gone through this process, does this sound normal?
Thanks for any information.

I was in the same basic situation, with GEPIK. It took about a week longer than I had originally thought to receive the NOTE OF APPOINTMENT, etc. I was told that they were waiting to get other teachers documents together, along with mine. So, maybe this is normal.

Thanks for the reply. I have so much to do; pack up a house, store the car and so on. I also don't want to apply elsewhere if the paperwork is on its way to immigration.

you said you haven't sent any originals?

sounds like you're still in the app process; it will be a while longer once you send them your transcripts, etc. and then they have to issue you a letter authorizing your visa for which you then go and apply.

don't book that flight until maybe around the time they receive your original transcripts, degree, etc. you will be sending to them; at that point it will be about 6 more days for your letter to be issued and now those go directly to the embassy; you go in and apply and depending on the embassy, 2-5 days for your visa and then you're good to go; that's about a 2 wk period between your flight and everything being finished.

I don't send them originals. They only need a certified copy of your degree. On the other hand the consulate may need it for a visa.
They have transcripts already.
Again, don't send your original degree to Korea.

Don't buy the ticket until you have the visa in your hand.

But isn't it ok to send originals to public schools, because they don't "trap" you in there by holding onto it? I just don't want to get mine notarized by the consulate. 8 hour roundtrip drive sounds worthless to do that. Especially when it's public.
