I am moving to Jecheon next week and was wondering if anyone is in that area or knows someone that is. Long shot I know, as I now realize how small and rural this town is!C'est la Vie!(Don't know that one in Korean yet! ) |

Hakwon problems in Jecheon, South Korea [KOREA(South)]
Jecheon i have 13 teaching days left and my owner is trying to fire me
ok .. anyone qho is currently thinking of working in Jecheon South Korea ... and happens to be looking at this site please contact me first .. i dont know whether i can give names of hagwons on here ..
anyway ,... basically i have worked with no problem .. well few problems at my hagown for almost a year.. i have literally 13 twaching days left and lone behold my pschotic hagwon owner has decided to fire me .. because of reasons she failed to draw to my attention all those 49 weeks that i was working there previously .. When i finish my contract Feb 17th .. she is due to give me over 4 million won severence air fare 10days deposit and that months salary................ WOMAN!
I am finding it hard to talk to the free legal advice as it opens at one and i am in my hagwon from one till 830 .. but i have people around me who are helping.
but she is so irrasional.. and it all stemed from me calling immigration to find out my rights..as she threatened to fire me .. which in all my time there she has never even hinted at . She is like a big child. She will not listen, does not want to listen to what i have to say .. her english is appaling .. which does not help ..
I have read that she has to give me 30 days notice before she can fire me .. i only have about 24 left..
She is a stupid woman .. The students love me and learn from me.. she is so worried about me talking to people about gossip affecting her hagwon .. when she is the one causing it all.
What to do!!!!

This doesn't mean that your institute is bad. I just thought I would draw your attention to this. I imagine that there aren't many hagwons in Jecheon so this needed to be mentioned. |

Thank you!I have talked to someone who has taught there for two years and he seems to still have no problems. If the original reader of the Jecheon post is still around...do you have the name of the school? |

I am sorry but I found it by chance on the Englishy School Watch website. The poster left an ID number but no name. I assume that you have to be a member of the web site to respond. I am not. Sorry I can't be of bigger help. Maybe you can ask the school if you can speak with previous nativ speakers or something. |
