My co-teacher is talking about me having to travel about two hours by bus to turn in my ARC before I leave. It is nonsense right? I figure I can just turn it in at the airport.
I am sure it has been written up before (ttompatz ). Can someone please direct me to a link that talks about end of contract wrap up.
I checked the FAQso many threads included it has lost its usefulness.does a tread with the title Ethiopian food? or Bagel Street Caf qualify as a FAQ? |

You have to have you ARC with you when you go through immigration on your way out of the country. Don't let anyone tell you otherwise. Your co-teacher doesn't know squat. Don't give it to the school or "turn it in" to anyone. It's your id and none of their concern. |

If you don't have it when you leave at the airport you WILL be fined! Your co-teacher must not like you... |

um...you DON'T have to turn it in...I never have...If you don't have it when you leave, just tell them that you're returning in a few days. They never ask to see your outgoing/round-trip ticket.
The people who say you have to have it, have never tried leaving without turning in their ARC...
But you also don't need to turn it in to anyone else. If you really want to turn it in to someone, then airport Immigration would be best, when they say "Are you coming back?"
And for those of you who travel, you should usually carry your ARC w/you when you go through immigration. You don't necessarily need it, but it makes things simpler... |

If you are leaving and do NOT have a re-entry permit and time left on your visa you are supposed to turn it in at passport control on your way OUT of the country.
You CAN be delayed and fined 100k if you do NOT have it.
12 cards worth of personal experience talking here (yes it is imperical evidence but 12/12 is a strong track record).
It is also mentioned on the immigration web page:
http://www.g4f.go.kr/pt/InfoDetailR_en.pt?bbscttTitle=Entry+Inspection+%26+Entry+Requirements+of+Foreigners&categoryId=2&parentId=399&catSeq=402&showMenuId=368&fromOrgPath=&toOrgPath=&userId=&resorceCont=info+boards+%3E+Immigration
Important matters to attend to upon departure for foreigners
* Foreigners who have overstayed their allowed period of stay may leave the country after complying with prescribed procedures at the Immigration Bureau.
* Registered foreigners departing the country for good must return their foreign registration cards during the departure inspection.
- Failure to return the card is a breach of Immigration Act Article 37, and may result in negligence fines being charged.
* Registered foreigners wishing to re-enter the country within the granted period of stay must obtain a re-entry permit. Exceptions are for the following countries with re-entry waiver agreements.
- France , Suriname , Belgium , Netherlands , Luxemburg , Switzerland , Sweden , Denmark , Norway , Finland , Liechtenstein , and Germany

Turn it in at the airport, if your contract is over. I've heard there's a fine, if you don't |

I was trying to think of an answer that would make me appear naughtybut again trying to go down that path just makes me come off slimy, so I will refrain.
Thanks for the replies. |
