Those poor taliban soldiers. I bet they just set them free after hours and hours of listening to the koreans talk about how the sea of japan is really the east sea, or how dokdo really belongs to korea.
Oh..........they had better keep a good eye on their guard dogs as well. |

That would be relevant if that's what they were doing there. Read the article again. They went to Afghanistan to do volunteer medical service. Also, the Afghanistan governement "is investigating" why those particular individuals happen to be in Korea. Presumably, part of that investigation is determining what kind of visa they used to enter the country.

If you think that the Koreans were there just to do medical work, you're quite mistaken. It may have been just a cover or they may have actually been doing it - but there's no doubt in my mind that they were there primarily to evangelize. |

-Am I the only one who thinks that a lot of people seem to think WHY they were there is the important thing? I mean if I was emasculated and captured by the taliban I don't think "What I was doing there" would really matter. If they were really missionaries they could be in for a slow horrible death. And that would be sad...unless Koreans and SLow Horrible Death makes you happy. |

Just like those 2 girls from the US who were arrested right before the US invaded. I met them the day before they left for Afghanistan and they told me they were going to do missionary work, later I see them on the news denying it...and a cock crowed.
I believe they went under a similar guise.
They went to the country knowing the risks, I hope no one has to risk their lives to save them. |

The abducted Koreans were young Christian evangelists, according to South Korean news agency Yonhap. |

hopefully they receive mercy.
christianity has eastern roots.
just look at the sumerian influence on the old testament. Sumerians spoke an altaic language. abraham, the father of islam, christianity, and judaism, was a sumerian, and therefore looked korean. |

That does not mean they were proselytizing. Evangelists are a particular subset of Christianity and it includes a number of denominations. And there is such a thing as a service mission as opposed to a proselytizing mission.
Is there any chance at all that folks here will cease with the "leap to conclusion" hobby? |

At least in my opinion, if you put yourself in a war zone saying things that the "enemy" doesn't like, you have to take responsibility and know the risks (not saying they didn't). But I believe their actions should not cause others to risk their lives in saving them.
My parents chose to work in Afghanistan, if something happened to them I would be sad but they knew the risks. |
