The Tour de France sure has fallen off the radar since Lance Armstrong retired and then the next winner failed his drug test.
The bike race is in progress. But try finding a headline on the web that says tour de france. And saying that so and so is leading isn't very helpful, since no one outside of pro cycling has heard of the current so and sos.
But then that has always been the problem with coverage of the Tour, reporters who know next to nothing about the sport, can't even be bothered to look up info on the history of the race and stats for past winners, but pretend they are experts by not explaining anything.
Anyway, here's some info:

Armstrong and LeMond were international draws and the English language news market caters towards Americans. There are few American heros this year at the race so ad drawing news is low. If you'll check the French papers, there will be plenty of stories. Good observation tho. It is pretty quiet. |
