For you veterans out there that have left, and come back to teach to Korea- (or maybe non-vets as well for their one-way flight here,) I have a Q for you:
What was the price of your one-way flight to or leaving from Korea? The reason I ask is because after starting to do some research on flight prices, (even though it is at least 7 weeks in advance,) I'm getting a little nervous at the quotes/$ I'm seeing. I'm looking at possibly $1,700 USD for a one-way flight home- and that's if I book it NOW and not wait 7-8 weeks. I'm nervous about what my school/hagwon will say- and if they'll actually pay for ALL of it.
Any quotes from you guys??? Just curious... |

By any chance are you trying to book a flight during Chuseok or the week before or starting Sept 24th? That might explain it. Even if it's not a red day, I think a lot of people have extra days off sometimes.
Otherwise... tell them you booked it and the fee to see their reaction, maybe. My last hagwon said "if you don't book it 2 months in advance, we'll only pay 500k." yours may not have said that to you, but at least they won't be able to pin you and claim you didn't book far enough in advance. 7-8 weeks is reasonable, and it is their responsibility to pay your return flight. |

I told my co-teacher the going rate for a one-way ticket to Chicago was about 1.650,000 won right now.
She said it was fine. The school paid over 1,800,000 for the last teacher to fly home to Kansas City. |

My last school paid over two thousand dollars. It was a few days before Christmas. |

You guys should go to ultimatefares dot com or you can do a google search on cheap flights which lets you compare all the sites. And go Singapore, they seem to be the cheapest. I keep changing around the dates, and some days are higher than others by few hundred dollars of difference. |
