... at the Ashoka Indian restaurant in Itaewon..

The Ashoka's probably the classiest Indian restaurant in Korea, and the vegetarian items are clearly distinguished from the nonvegetarian...

Price for "all-you-can-eat" weekend lunch buffet is around 24,000 won for lunch and (I think) around 28,000 won for dinner...)

Now it looks like we're set for dinner - at 6pm.

It's very easy to locate - even for newcomers - Just take (Brown) line 6 to Itaewon station, go out exit 1, and you're right in front of the Hamilton Hotel. Ashoka is on the third floor.

We can meet either out front of the hotel (if the weather is nice) shortly before 1pm - or meet inside the lobby if it's too hot or rainy...

Man I talked to you about this get together when I ran into you in Itaewon yesterday.

I also found out today I'm going to be setting the trail that sunday for the Southside Hash House Harriers.

I'd love to go, but unless it gets moved up a bit I'm not going to make it. I'm also not keen on asking you to change your time as I'm not a member.

However:

Why don't you crazy and wild vegans consider getting out of bed a little earlier and come out to the Southside Hash on Sunday. We start at 11 and its promising to be a nice trail. The trails typically take an hour to an hour and a half to walk or run. No one really cares how you do the trail.

Afterwards I'm going to give my brother and sister hashers a largish kick in the pants and encourage them to go to Itaewon to throw down some quality Vegan food.

Tossing that out for you all to consider.

Hey, I stopped doing "hash" a long time ago ... Cool

Well, as far as changing the time from lunch to dinner, the main issue is that the dinner buffet is a few thousand won more (I think it's 29,000 won...)

If dinner time (like 6pm) would still be more convenient for most members I could change the time - and even the day to Saturday - if that's preferable to most members.

Communication among members is a little tricky though - especially with President "Kermo" on vacation. Most members don't post their views here (or on the veggie club website) and they usually need to be notified by email ...

Let me note again that anyone's welcome to attend Seoul Veggie Club gatherings (including nonvegetarians) but if we go to a restaurant that also serves meat items (like the Ashoka) they should kindly refrain from selecting any of those while associating with our group ...

So anyone intested in attending our gathering at the Ashoka Indian restaurant this weekend should make their preferences (Sat. or Sun. , lunch or dinner...) known either by posting here or on the club website (below) or by contacting either "Kermo" or me ...

Hey... I think I can make it to this one.

I haven't come to the other ones because I wanted to get the subway system all sorted out first.

If this is still a go, count me in.

Hey "Dan", I'm not the ignorant type (at this stage of my life...) I just quickly skimmed your post and didn't catch the part of about you wanting members of the veggie club to join your hiking group first so that we could all be dripping with sweat (and in some cases BO) by the time we show up at a classy restaurant... Confused My first response is Laughing My second response is Laughing Confused Laughing ...

So, is it better to be ignored or laughed at? Razz

Actually, I wouldn't be surprised if some members might be interested in hiking with your Southside Hash House Harriors (though it sounds like it might be a rambunctious bunch of rebels who are fond of eating corned beef hash gotten on the black market...) but it's hard to exchange ideas on short notice when (like I said) most of our members don't post on forums - they only respond to emails...

You're welcome to also post your invitation on the veggie club website (unless President "Kermo" finds out and vetoes the idea...)

I have to focus mainly on the club gathering at the Ashoka restaurant and decide quickly on which day and what time to meet (Sat. or Sun., lunch or dinner?) Whether some club members go hiking or not, which would be the better day for you - Satuday or Sunday?

Sunday dinner and I'll be there after taking a shower no less!

The corned beef isn't part of our club anymore. We did away with that years ago. Someone nearly choked on a beer bottle cap that got wrapped in corned beef as a gag.

Well, I'm leaning toward making it for Sunday, dinnertime then, but I think I'd better wait till at least tonight before making it official (in case there's a groundswell of support for lunchtime - which is 4000 won cheaper...)

The dinner buffet price at Ashoka (including tax) is 28,000 won - but it's usually worth it (especially for me because I eat a lot... Laughing )

It sounds like fun if the weather's OK. There are a lot of activities for expats in Korea in the summertime. That- plus the fact that a lot of teachers leave for vacations - explains why veggie club turnouts tend to be smaller in the summer months (especially in August...)

Anyway, "Kermo" will be back to pick things up in a couple weeks (maybe she'll plan a "veggie beach party"... Cool )
