There are two basic kinds of businesses that fill jobs:
1) Recruiters or head hunters that work for the employer. Their duty is to the employer and not the job applicant. They attempt to find the best person to fill the job according to the needs and wishes of the employer. They might act like the job applicant's friend, but they do not work for you. Their goal is to fill each position, not to find a job for any particular applicant.
2) Placement firms that work for the job applicant. Their duty is to find a job for each applicant. They often charge an upfront fee and work for you. Their duty is to the applicant, to find you a the best possible job. They should help groom you and help you make the best presentation possible. The fee can be as much as 3 months' salary.
As to the particular firm who wrote to the OP, I have no idea if they are legit, or whether you would benefit from using this particular firm. If they can get you a significantly better job and higher starting salary than you could on your own or through an employer paid recruiter, then a fee of 300,000 would be worth it. |

I realize that recruiters get paid or make commission from the schools when they fill a posiiton--I never think a recruiter is my best friend or that she or he will always get my back later. But I think I trust a recruiter more than a paid service. If it sounds like a scam, it probably is--that's my thinking! I already found a new job with the regular recruiter. I never intended to send anyone money. Anyone who does is a sap, in my book! |

NEVER NEVER pay a recruiter...they get paid by the school that hires you. This piece of advice is written all over the web. As a matter of fact, you should email this "recruiter" and tell them you are on to them...tell them you are going to report them ....smart move on your part, as there have been many people who have paid--never to see their diplomas again. |

i did the same thing four years ago through i-to-i - 250GBP paid to find me a job in Korea. I ended up in the middle of nowhere. That said, it did give me a start in Korea (before i knew how easy and free it was to find a job here - we don't all start off knowing about Dave's!) so i guess in the end it was money well spent. would i do it again? of course not! |

You are paying them them 1399 for a job that pays 1.6 million won (900 quid a month)
Balls to them! I'm reporting them to trading standards. I bet they are taking a cut of the teachers wages too for a wag that low. |

Just written to realgap.co.uk. I'll keep anyone who is interested updated.
To whom it may concern,
I have just seen your advertisment on your website about the South korea placements and I would to make a complaint.
http://www.realgap.co.uk/Paid%20teaching%20programme%20in%20Korea
I have got a 2.2 million won a month position at a school as a recent graduate with no experience. The package I get is as follows.
1) Cost of flights reimbursed after successful placement completion
2) Airport transfer
3) Free Accommodation
4) Assistance with visa process
5) Orientation
6) Language classes
7)12 days paid vacation
Assistance throughout placement
And I'm not paying a paying a penny.
From what I can see, your customers are paying 1399 for a two week language and cultural course. Not only do you not offer a flight out there with the return reimbursed after completion of contract. But you offer 10 days holiday (instead of the 12) and 1.6 million won a month, if you can find me ONE Korean job vacancy on any site or recruiting agency that is offering a salary that low for a 22 hour teaching week, I would like to see it.
I think personally you are taking a cut of the teachers salary in the schools you secure placements with, you bunch of devious rip off merchants. Your advert for placements in South Korea must be the biggest con of all time and I'm sure trading standards in the UK would be very interested in your practices.
Anyway, I'll get contacting trading standards right away, I'm sure they will be interested in this!
Cheers,
Carlos |
