|
|
I was looking through the news sites for something worth translating and came upon a disturbing article on a tv show on SBS that interviewed a woman that never leaves her house, beats her dogs and says that she feels good when she kills animals. So what do they do? They put her on a diet, give her some treatment and then give her the injured dog back after it gets back from the hospital. Nothing whatsoever about criminal charges, which reminds me that I've never checked into the laws here on animal abuse. Apparently some netizens are trying to organize a campaign to get the dog(s?) taken away from her and to someplace safe.
Kind of a fucked up story. Shouldn't this be criminal? Anybody else know about it? It was on tv on the 3rd apparently.

The problem is that Yeonghee relieves her stress by abusing dogs. Specialists who interviewed Yeonghee who says that she feels pleasure when she kills animals worry that she would be capable of abusing humans as well.
While Netizens welcomed the attempt by the producers to find a solution to Yeonghees pitiful situation, they said that they were reckless in returning a dog to her after it had recovered from its wounds as she showed no signs of having attained mental stability. |

Depends. If the animal is a S-E Asian, then it is perfectly legal to mistreat, abuse, and provide the guy with inappropriate housing, no matter how much the fellow likes Korea or how fluent he is in Korean. |

That's really sad, but certainly not unique to Korea. The scary thing is how she actually enjoys killing them. She clearly has mental problems and should never be allowed to have a pet.
Dahmer started out torturing and killing animals, didn't he?
The people that returned her pets need a kick up the a*se. |

Underdog!where are you when we need you?
People should understand that in this country, dogs should be allowed to carry weapons. |

It reminds me a little of people in the States who hoard hundreds of animals without the means or mental capacity to take care of them. And yeah, virtually all serial killers torture animals as kids. They also set fires for fun and I forget what the third indicator is. |

Dogs are tortured every day here for soup.
Cats are tortured for tonic.
What's the difference if you do it for any other reason? |

I know they dissect frogs alive in science classes. We did it at my hagwon. I'm pretty sure thats considered animal cruelty in N. America and probably Europe too.
The retort is that they're not feeling any pain because they're anesthesized and injected with ketamine. However, the fear of over-anaesthizing and premaurely killing the frog leads to under-anesthesizing. And thus you have a conscious frog during the procedure, squirming around while being cut open. I had to conduct the procedure. Pretty crappy I thought. |

That's one reason I never wanted to take biology.
So what would happen with a case like this in Canada or the US? Or Australia? That reminds me, I heard waaaay back when that it was illegal to declaw cats in Australia but I've never verified that. Is that true? |

Yes, but do the people who do all three always end up becoming serial killers? |

That, I don't know. But it is true that 90%+ of serial killers indulged in the three. |

I'd say it's true in her case. She doesn't just beat the animals but also said that she feels pleasure the moment they die. Somebody more sane but with rage problems would probably say they felt terrible once they realized that the animal had actually died from the beating. |

Actually, many serial killers do often feel bad after they kill somebody. Many of them try to do some minimal step to leave the corpse with a bit of dignity, like putting a cloth over their face.

Touche. But actually, those three indicators are supposed to happen in childhood. Maybe the third is being beaten or neglected. |
