I know people are always interested in the current university situation.

People are looking for jobs and want to know about:

-the "good" and "bad" universities
-what to expect once someone is hired
-the hours
-the advantages and disadvantages
-salary- what is appropriate?
-teaching/working hours
-the application process
-good times to start looking for a uni job
-what are you actually teaching?

I know I am interested in finding out more info. As the search function can be useless to some, I figure this might be a good way to inform people about working at universities in general, as well as updates/warnings.

I teach at a uni. Used to have introductory English literature courses, now teaching writing, pronunciation, public speaking, conversation.
3-year rule in effect.
12 hours a week.
Completely hands-off, supervisor-less environment. Now that the uni website is functional (albeit in Korean) for everything like grades and syllabi, I have no reason ever to contact the Korean professors. I'm a bit lonely in that regard. THEY, however, prefer it this way. Probably the opposite of many schools.
2.7 each of the twelve months (and severance "month") of the year, for 7.5 months of work.
Few perks, but a shared office (one other guy, foreign). No plane ticket, no visa run, but, still, it's OK.
MA was required.

Hi. Do a search with key word 'university' and 'pragic' as author (just means that this person posted).

Hi. Do a search with key word 'university' and 'pragic' as author (just means that I posted, really). Only look under 'job related discussion forum'. Should find a bunch of threads. This has been on on-going, seasonal topic for some time now.
