|
|
Hey, I had a 4 month gap between contracts, and noticed on the subway last night that there is now a subway line from Incheon Airport.
I'm sure there are posts about this, but we all know how useless a search for Incheon, Airport, and Subway will probably be.
So, just quickly, is this line in development? Or active? How long does it take to reach the purple line?
Useful discovery, as friends are due to visit. Cheers for any info. |

I'm close to Gimpo...I'll check on the 31st when I take my trip back home. I've heard that from most areas in Seoul it's still faster to take the limousine bus.
Seems like they really dropped the ball on this one. How awesome would a 400+ km/hr MAGLEV from Seoul Station to Incheon be? |

It's nice, easy to use, comfortable, cheap BUT yes, if you are more than let's say 30 min. from Gimpo Stn. (by subway of course), you are better off going to the nearest 4/5 star hotel and taking the Airport bus. |

This remains true. I live at Ttukseom and it would take longer on the subway than on the bus, especially now that there is a direct bus to Jamsil station from ICN. It would save you a man won or so, though, if you are really cheap. |

Yes, not a very useful line. Why would a train line need to connect 2 airports? |

They need a rapid train, not a subway line. Each time I am on the limo bus it passes the train at twice the speed. |

It is, in fact, a running line. I live off of the Incheon line, so the new line is pretty nice for me (the north end of the line connects to the Airport Line). It is still inconvenient for anyone else, though, since it's a pain to get to, and honestly not much faster than the airport bus (except during rush hour times...) I used it a few weeks ago, and I would say that it's about the same as taking a bus re: length of trip and cost, but it is a ber-nice subway... and, for me, easier to take than to go over to the bus stop.
While it's less the case than in other cities with more than one airport, it is always helpful to have a line connecting the 2 airports, for those times when your layover includes changing actual airports as well. (ie: flying into Gimpo from Jeju or Busan, to then connect to an international flight out of ICN...) |
