Thus spake O'Reilly: "The Padres may think they were being inclusive and politically correct. But they were being insensitive and dumb. Some people will applaud the mixing of gays and children. Clear-thinking people will know it's completely inappropriate."
So what will sensationalistic, hack journalists think? Again O'Reilly fails to cover the bases.
What is the argument here- why shouldn't we allow gay people to be around children? O'Reilly talks vaguely about common sense and clear thinking people but never really explains what he means. He makes a point about sexual displays in public at a family place but unless I missed something, all those people did was kiss.
Won't someone please think of the children and try to explain this one? If you're going to use the gays as pedophiles argument, please provide a source. I haven't found one credible source that can prove that gays are more likely to molest than any other group. |

Yeah only watched the link once and it seemed vague, what was he disapproving of? Public displays of affection between same sex couples in view of kids? As if any kid is going to turn into a screaming queen cos they saw that.
Or that parents taking their kids to the children's event were blind sided and should have had plenty of warning before hand to make a decision about attending? Maybe that's fair enough. It would be nice if one day attitudes had progressed to the point this was a complete non issue, but if some people still feel uncomfortable with even hostile towards homos then it is their right to be able to make an informed decision to be around them or not.
I think the guy interviewed at the beginning had the best attitude; 'wait and see' and if he wasn't comfortable he would take his kid home. Cool. From the footage of the harmless looking gay crowd I'm sure he stayed.
Maybe there is the issue of age appropriateness whether gay or straight. The local gay parade in my town was fun while it lasted, some great floats that kids would love and a friendly celebrating atmosphere. Then again there were some things maybe kids shouldn't be seeing, like the giant butt with a "F**k Safe!' message. Cool for adults, probably not kids. How would you answer their innocent inquiring questions? |
