I heard prices for two-way flights to Japan were through the roof now. How bad will they be in early-late August? Someone told me 600k, which is absolutely ridiculous for such a short flight.

I have two vacations in August and if its possible I'd like to drop by and visit a friend in Tokyo (they *might* have a place for me to crash). Not if its that expensive though.

Sounds about right, though you would be lucky even to get a ticket at this short notice. Koreans tend to book all the available flights en masse for a reason I am yet to understand. For the last few years I have booked all my summer vacation flights around May. You could look at taking the boat from Busan to Fukuoka if you can't get on a plane and have the time.

Cool... a boat would be fun.

How much would a boat ticket be?

Last time I went it cost around 300 return. Then you have to get to Busan, KTX would be the only way I would suffer it if I was in Seoul.

I recommend Nagasaki. Beautiful little city. I took the KTX to Busan (it was 90,000 won return at the time), 172,000 for the hydrofoil to Fukuoka return and about 90,000 won return for the train from Fukuoka to Nagasaki. Travel time was about 8 hours. 3 hours to Busan, 2 hours 55 minutes to Fukuoka and around 2 hours to Nagasaki.

Yeah, sorry but I got the Hydrofoil price wrong, it was 180 return when I did it back in summer 2005.
