About 250 pics have dissappeared off of the 1 gig memory card inside my camera. Only the last 8 pics show up on the preview screen, however, the camera shows that I only have space left for another 16 pics. So the data is, hopefully, still there.
Any ideas about what I should do? I'm worried about taking it to a camera shop in China because they might just print the 8 pics and wipe the card..... |

Try reseating the data card. Sometimes mine gets jogged loose and then the camera goes off of its internal memory. Perhaps that's what happened to yours and the last few photos were actually stored in internal memory. |

Plug it into a computer and see what comes up! You do have a memory card reader, no? What kind of memory card? |

Also plug the camera into the computer without the memory card. This way you can see what's on the card and the internal memory.
In the future make backup copies of your pictures as often as possible.
I recently lost about 300 pictures from my trip to China when my camera was lost. The first three rules of computing are backup, backup, and backup.
Also, the data is worth more than the hardware.
My camera would let me do it without a computer. What I should have done was taken the picture using the internal memory, copied the pictures to data cards, and then kept one card with the camera and one card in my pocket. |
