So i called Air Canada and found out how much it would cost to bring my 32" flatscreen TV. They said it would cost an extra $150 roughly based on the weight.

I really appreciate a nice TV. Do you guys thinks i should bring my TV or just buy one once i get to Korea?

If i dont bring it, how much do you think a similar TV would cost while im there?

please post your opinion

I think that is not a good idea. Plugs are different and same with the wattage. Not to mention, your lugging a tv to watch Korean tv. You really need to think about your needs and wants my friend.

Get here, buy a good computer and download tv.

If your really missing the flat screen world, buy one when your here.

Straight up, people are going to raz you for this question. Folks, remember, there are only stupid answers.

The last poster was right. Now for a stupid answer.

No, unless you plan on buying/watching a lot of cheap DVDs on it, the TV over here isn't exactly HBO. If you really love the Discovery Channel and BBC World, then fine, bring your TV. Those are the only decent non-Korean channels available.

If not, then sell the thing and buy another one of lesser value here.

I'd go along with that. If you're bringing a 32" TV from Canada to watch Korean TV then you're just going to see a lot of rubbish but bigger and in great detail! Laughing

A much better option would be to buy a nice computer with a good LCD screen and download all your favorite TV and movies.

My local Techno-Mart just finished a flat screen LCD sale where all models were 30% off. They had a really nice LCD flat screen 42inch for underW850,000. I was very temped to buy it but didn't.

Mailing or haluing something clear accross the world is a good way to break it. If you bring it here, maybe go through a reputable professional carrier and have them insure it? (Hint: UPS will not honor an insured item unless you also pay them to pack it for you. This I learned the hard way once.)

Eh...tough decision.

I'm a 360 fanatic, and I play on my 40 inch PAVV around 10 hours a week on average. If you're into it as much as I am, it would be worth it to bring the TV.

However, as most games here are regionally coded, you might want to reconsider bringing the two units. It's possible to order games online through a site like Amazon, etc. but you end up paying more for the games. You could get them modded, but then you'd lose online capabilities.

If I were you, I'd sell the either the PS3 or 360, bring the TV, and buy an Asian version of whichever console you dropped when you get here.

Skylife is the best way to get English channels in Korea.

Still, though, I'm spending a lot more time watching what I download than watching Skylife.

Well i have already decided to bring the PS3 as i don't mind spending some extra cash on north american games. Also the ps3 games aren't region locked so it would be the better choice. I want to bring the TV as well.

How much do you think i could get a 27-32 inch flat panel monitor for? or a 27-32 flat panel TV?

The only place I have seen BBC World available is on Skylife ... That was one of the channels which made me want to take that option for TV about a month after I arrived ... when I wanted to see / hear more English than I was after I arrived ... But I ended up not being able to because my landlord wouldn't allow it in my building ... Skylife also had CNN and a range of other English language channels ... But it does cost more including installation ...

CNN came out of many of the normal Cable packages just before or just after I arrived at the end of March ...

One thing I did when we knew I couldn't get Skylife was to look at what is available on the Internet so far as news went ... At the time I paid a few dollars (I think it might have been $6) to get CNN Pipline which was the premium way to watch CNN news including live and archived things ... But in the last week or so they have stopped the need to pay ... and now you can watch all of the CNN news you want on their website ... Many of the other news channels in our countries of origin also have some of their news at least available on their website on the Internet ... Which gives you lots of options ... I find that the Internet is the only way to get news which actually relates to much of the world unless it is the US. Most of the International News I see here on TV i from the US ... I use the other options to keep up with the news from Australia and other parts of the world....
