I've heard of RTW tickets and researched a bit online recently. Has anyone ever booked these? It seems if one were wanting to travel for six months in more than 2 continents this might save some money, but not sure if it's very practical or well-used by travelers. If anyone has any advice I'd appreciate it.
It appears StarAlliance has the best program and one can view the others if they do a RTW search on wikipedia.org

I've known a few people who have used Airtreks. They have establishes RTW trips but they specialize in you choosing your own trips:
