| Any luck using your unlocked W-CDMA or UMTS phone with Korean 3G? I've roamed with Rogers but I want to get my Sharp 903sh working on a monthly SK or KTF account. Everytime I try a friend's sim - I get a unregistered SIM message. I might need some sort of hook up to do it for me. I KNOW it's cheaper to get a cheapass Korean phone from Technomart, etc but I really love my Sharp. |

| I have a 904SH from Japan and it only works in Korea while roaming. The internet forums have been promising an unlock for the 904sh for over a year but so far, zip. I vastly prefer Japanese phones to Korean phones. I think Korean phones are preoccupied with being small and for my big hands, that just doesn't work. Also, the Japanese network is faster for downloads and the phones are just loaded with features compared to Korean handsets. Good luck though. |

Yeah I had a 904sh but sold it off once a solution didn't look likely. I can still use it as a digicam though |

Tried to buy a 3G phone here a week or so ago.. after filling out the papers and all that jazz, we get a call saying that I can't access the video system (which is basically the main reason to get a 3G phone IMO) because I was a foreigner..
Apparently the system is only programmed to accept ID's that start with 1 or 2 (basically Koreans) .. Since mine, like most foreigners starts with a 5, the system was never designed to let us use it...
Angry I was.
When I asked if they had planned to upgrade the system anytime soon, the service guy said probably not for many years (which I also find hard to believe)..
Either way, I was left 3g-less... |

Yeah, in this country I don't really know what to believe...
I just gave up the 3G dream and am using a crappy old phone. Bah. |
