we were given one of those graded books for a class and it was hard going and war centered. Well the students don't like it and think it is boring. One wrote that she wanted the teacher to be more "passionated" (new word I guess) The students read a chapter and you get that deer in the headlights look. So, you find clever ways to get tough the heavier book, so you can get onto the second, lighter and hopefully more interesting book and then they complain that they went through the book that they hate way too fast.
Any suggestions????????????? How can I be more passionated in the reading class? It is the first time I taught it and was given the book a day before the class began. |

I would suggest looking for metaphors and pretending to be delighted at your own discoveries in front of the class... you know look passionated.
What is the name of the book. That might help us help you too. |
