My boyfriend and I have been offered a public school job there and are seriously considering it, but I'm wondering if anyone can offer any information besides that on the city website.
We don't mind rural, though it would be nice if the city had the basic necessities, such as stores, a hospital and perhaps a vet for my cat.
A small foreign presence would be nice, but we don't require a huge foreign bar scene or anything like that. |

I was in Yangpyeong (Kyunggi Do) for my first year in Korea. It is a nice, fairly clean and pleasant town, with friendly people. It's been cleaned up quite a bit since I was there too and I'd be happy to work there again myself.
The only thing that sours my memories of Yangpyeong were my own personal circumstances at the time. My job was utter crap, I had terrible living conditions and was pretty lonely. But if you're a couple you'll be better off, and Seoul is only about 1 hour away by train. There's some lovely scenery in the area.
They have a hospital but I am not sure about a vet. I'm sure if you get a good public school job there you'll find it a pretty good place to live.
PM me if you've got any specific questions.
Cheers,

| I just finished a year there two weeks ago. There is a hospital, stores, and some things to do. It's not as exciting as Seoul but it's not a bad place. There are plenty of foreigners in town so meeting people shouldn't be a problem. |
