Is it common to not be told anything more than what your schedule is? So much is to be said about the abilities and experience of classes and individual students in order for me to build a better frame of mind on being an effective teacher. I just want to have the job specific knowledge necessary for doing a good job and professional support rather than getting a stupid review from the director that says, "the kids hate you."
I noticed, I am not told much and anything I am told, it's at the last minute. Often, I am prying the students by questioning them on what their Korean teacher is teaching them, what other English classes or schools attended, and various issues.
Is it normal in a hagwon full of Koreans that speak English very well to be modestly guarding all information? If there is a problem of any sort, I am told when it's too late which is frustrating to me. Luckily, my head FT tells me a little here and there that I need to know. If it wasn't for his support, I would had already left this hagwon months ago. I am left out of the loop as if I am an outsider who doesn't even work there. |
