|
|
I found the 2007 GEPIK Teachers manual on their website and decided to read it for a laugh
Quote: |
2. Upon completion of the first year term, Employee may request for a change of
school and region subject to approval by Employer, and this is not considered as
a renewal of the term.
-> Should you be accepted for a different school (either in case for elementary to
middle or high, vise versa, or simply a change of location), the terms are
following;
- 12 -
Orientation 2007 English Teachers' Assistants in Gyeonggi Province
Teaching experience ? Yes, counted
2 weeks Home leave ? No, due to the budget predicament
(You can still going backhome and may take a short break then come back with
a renewed E2 visa yourself, thus each airway paid for by your old school and
your new school respectively)
|
So even if you want to stay in GEPIK but fancy a change of scenery they make it really difficult to do. Having to mess about getting a new E2 to work for the same organisation.
Good thinking that. |

It's because your sponsor (the individual school) changes. Immigration rules and not the choice of GEPIK.
One ministry of the government doesn't always co-operate with the other.
Hell, sometimes they can't even agree within a ministry or even the same department. |

I thought GEPIK was my employer.
So if the school is my sponsor how can I work at a camp outside of my school grounds then? |

Schools are different from hakwons in that you can work virtually anywhere in the school disctrict under the auspices of the school.
Immigration does make some noteable exceptions in some of the things it allows public schools to do that they do NOT allow a hakwon to do.
Some of the exceptions are orientation, open classes, field trips, summer/winter camps and camping trips, working multiple schools within a district to name but a few. |

I don't think that is the reason at all! They can give the teacher the holidays and extras while still moving schools. SMOE does it, no problem, no loss of face or benefits. A school is a school is a school and the immigration dept. has nothing to do with this matter of "benefits" other than the stamping of the ARC and verification of the teacher as "legit".

But the address on your ARC would be different than the new school. |
