How often have you been using your A/C?
How many other people are in your building. Is it a small buidlign owned by your school? If so there is a good chance that other peoples power is jumped through your meter. |

What does a regular A/C (or electric bill in the summer using A/C) look like? |

Well, there you go. 16 hours a day of AC use is going to run up a hell of a bill. |

How big is your apartment? How big is your A/C? If we leave our 12pyeong AC on 16 hours a day, our bill would come to 500K! |

I also would suggest reducing A/C only when the heat is unbearable.
What are you going to do in August?
maybe increase temp to 27-28, this should still be manageable no? |

THere you go then
16 - 22 hours
How much is one KWh here? 200W?
How big an apartment? Your A/C could be from 3kW up to 6kW
Running at 3kw at 200W and hour is 600W * 20 hours 6000 x 30 = 180,000
6kW at 200W (could be wrong on the cost) = 360,000W |

I leave my air on 24/7. My unit isn't very powerful and my room isn't very big, but the bill is only 30k/month. |

The more electricity you use the more you pay per unit. The charging brackets should be detailed on the back of the bill, if it's part of an apartment bill then maybe not.
The fixed charge is set for a kwh range like 0-50 and so on. More importantly the kw rate goes up too. I don't know the exact figures but maybe for moderate use your last kwh might cost you 200won, for heavy use the last kwh might cost you 600.
Think of it like progressive tax rates. |

If you get to a certain amout of elecricity consumption(don't know what the # is) your bill doubles. Even if your 1 kw/h over...that one will double your bill.
Edit: back in Daegu the wife and I had some 400/500k months.
Next month cut back. |

Darn! No wonder! 16 hours a day? You know, when you go to work, you should turn that sucker off. The walls and furniture don't ned to keep cool while you are gone. I have a small AC that I only use when I am sleeping and I urn it on when I come home from work just long enough to cool the place down. I turn it back off until I go to bed. I turn it off as soon as I get up. |

Yes, I have been paying like only 12 to 15 thousand won a month for electric, but have been running the A/C like 2 to 4 hours a day on some days during June and July and hope it doesn't cost me hundreds of thousands of won. I got my electric bill today for June and it's only 15K.
Now I am only wondering how much my gas will be for 6 months when I get it in September as we pay gas once every 6 months here. |
