I'm going to visit my parents between contracts. It'll be two weeks or a little more. I don't know the exact dates yet. It'll be around August 6~7 to August 20~22. Depending on how far away from wherever the heck I am at that time (somewhere in Gangwon province) you are, I might have to tag on more days to allow me time to bring them to you and then pick them up again.
I wish that I could do a pet sitting exchange with someone, but I will be between contracts. I don't even know where I will be posted (EPIK), so I have no idea if I could take care of someone else's pet. A
First, let me establish that my dogs are my children. I'd probably try to find some way to bring the both of them with me, but my mother is extremely allergic to dogs and August is a bad allergy month for her as it is.
Again, my dogs are my children. I want the very best for them.
To ensure that people will actually read to the end of this post, let me preface by saying I'm willing to pay.
About the dogs. There are two of them. Names withheld to protect their privacy. (stop laughing)
1. Nine year old neutered male Maltese mix. 5.5~6 kilos. Does not shed. Loves to sleep and snuggle. A little stand-offish at times. Prefers to lie in your lap without being otherwise touched. Has never bitten anyone in his life, but if you rile him up with rough/hyperactive play, you are in charge of your own fingers. Does not need to be walked. Will pee and poo on your bathroom floor. He normally tries to go near the drain. Cannot be off the leash if taken outside. Will attack strange dogs that approach him because he is defensive of his people and his little "sister". Will play, a little. May try to dig a hole through your pillow, so remind me to provide you with one for him to attack.
2. Three-year old spayed female Maltese. Barely 2 kilos. Does not shed. Loves to sleep, snuggle, play, get belly rubs, play, give and get kisses, get brushed, play and play. Will likely irritate you at one point or another with seemingly unending energy when it comes to fetching her toys. Not the slightest bit stand-offish. Wants to be as near you as possible. Has never bitten anyone in her life, but if you rile her up with hyperactive play (certainly no rough play with this little one), you are in charge of your own eardrums. Her hyper bark is LOUD. She will not pee or poo on your bathroom floor, and so long as you take her out at least three times a day, she will not pee or poo anywhere in your house. MUST be on leash and not allowed to "meet" strange dogs due to her very small size and tendency to try to play rough with dogs that can squish her flat with one well-placed paw. Will play a LOT. Will hump her older "brother" a LOT whenever he tries to dig through a pillow.
They do not howl or bark when you leave them at home alone, so long as they are together. (Older one can be left home alone while little one gets taken out for a pee/poo walk, but little one cannot every be left alone. She must be with a person or her "brother".)
Dogs are not related. There is no sex unless you count the girl humping the boy.
Hmmm...what else? Ah, the dogs have a special diet. Yes, really. You don't have to prepare anything special for them as they have some kibble they can eat during this time and I'll be sure to give you some uncooked pasta to give them for treats. Yes, they eat uncooked pasta. They love it.
They are quiet at night, but I've been told that they move around a lot, so if you are a light sleeper, you might be in trouble. They are very used to sleeping WITH someone and if you did try to lock them up in another room, they'd likely scratch at the door and cry and cry and cry until you gave in and slept with them. They are NOT quiet if anyone knocks on your door, scratches at it, suddenly appears at your window, etc. In other words, your place will be loudly guarded. However, they are quiet as soon as the door is open and they see the person who was making the noise. I sometimes shake a squirt bottle of water at them to get them to settle down on my way to the door. They rarely need to be squirted...water being so deadly to dogs and all, they usually shut up faster when in the presence of a squirt bottle.
No one with young children, please. If it was just my older dog, it wouldn't be such a big deal, but the little one is a bit delicate due to her size and kids do not always know their own strength.
They need a non-smoking environment. They HAVE lived in a very small-one room before and would do fine doing so again. Not their favorite thing, I'm sure, but they are not destructive. Both are more likely to sleep when bored than anything else.
I'd LOVE to let them stay somewhere that had someone at home all day. But, that is me being idealistic, not something I actually demand.
They will need a/c. They don't need it turned way down or anything...set at 24 or 25 would be fine. Actually, lower than 23 and they'd probably shiver. They will both get a short haircut before I leave them with you because I know that daily brushing can be a pain in the neck. Both will have been bathed the day before they arrive at your place and I would be very happy to leave money with you to take them to a groomer and get them bathed. They do not fight or bite during bathtime, but I'm very willing to pay for a groomer to make it as convenient for you as I can.
The better environment they can be provided with, the more I'll be willing to pay. Remember, they are my children.

I wish I could do that, but I'm doing this trip between contracts. I have no idea where my new home will be. I have to move out of Seoul before I go on my trip. I'll be somewhere in Gangwon province. I've requested rural, so that might not be your ideal way to spend your vacation, out in the boonies (though I hear from many that Gangwon is beautiful~!) But yeah, I don't know what my housing situation will be like or even where it will be for quite some time. |

| Just take them to a reasonably large Animal Hospital (or an Animal Hospital run by a university) and pay for the "pet hotel". The vet school near me charges only a few thousand per day. |

Oh, aren't you the witty one? I'll bet that no one else would have ever thought of such an original thing to say. It certainly isn't like that is a tired joke oft repeated. I bow down to your superior humor oh funny one. |

That is something I'd only do in an emergency, like if I were hospitalized and no one would take care of them. I don't think I could happily go on vacation while my dogs get put in cages. I never trained them with a "kennel", so it would be horrible for them. If I cannot get things set up with someone (and it's not looking like that would be a problem), then I would simply not go on vacation. |

The place I referred to doesn't use cages, and the animals are free-range around the office (if they are social pets, that is), except for sleeping. |

Wait...is this a school or a vet clinic? If it's a school, then that sounds pretty good. But, if it's a vet clinic, that sounds rather risky, health-wise. A bit like having an open daycare for children in an ER ward. My dogs are VERY socialable around people, but due to us being attacked one too many times while out on a walk, the older one is extremely defensive/protective and the younger one has no manners around her elders which gets her in trouble. They would certainly really love to be somewhere where they were constantly surrounded by lots of people, but I don't think it would be a good idea to mix them in with other dogs. (Though, strangely, they'd do fine with cats...perhaps because unleashed cats tend to run away from us rather than run at us.)

She most certainly does NOT put out and is still a virgin so far as I know. Judging by your picture, she's about the same size as your head, so really, she's not so much girlfriend material as she is squeaky toy potential. |

It's both, actually. It's a clinic that is run by the uni. Students work there with the doctor on duty. Bonus that the doc speaks English, too. The clinic side of the place is separate from the dog-grooming and pet hotel side. Every time I go in there are at least 2-3 dogs with free reign, usually 1-2 dogs are the same though, so maybe they belong to the students or the doctor?
I've got cats, and they have their own little play area, complete with climbing tree. I haven't used the place for their "hotel" facilities yet, only for spaying and such, but I'll probably do so when I visit my folks this summer... I've just got too many cats for me to impose on anyone to watch them; cleaning and feeding would be more trouble than it's worth... it's just convenient to leave them with the staff I've (and the kits have) already established a rapport with. |

Where is the one you go to? It's always good to know about good places for emergencies. Have they got a website? Is it in Seoul? I still prefer to have mine stay with someone so that they can sleep with a person, but I also want to be realistic...if I WERE ever hospitalized and no one was on hand to take care of them, it sure would give me peace of mind to know of a place where I could send them. |

bump
Still need someone. I now know that I will be in Yeongwol county, Gangwon province. You can stay at my place while you watch the dogs, if you like. Apparently, paragliding and rafting are pretty big there, FYI.

So, you can stay rent/utility free in my place, go paragliding and rafting, take care of two sweet dogs, AND get paid for it!!!!
I need someone from August 6th to August 23rd. (7th to 22nd if you take care of them in my place)
