my high school summer camp is actually going to involve camping!
i am so excited, i love to camp, even though i've seen the campground and it is the most citified camping i have ever seen.
along with camping in real tents in a real campground, of course we'll be having a campfire and telling ghost stories. and the best part: singing campfire songs! unfortunately, any time i spent around a campfire during my misspent youth tended to involve large quantities of intoxicants and the singing of such classics as "highway to hell," "stairway to heaven" (which is further by the way?), and of course, "american pie."
i have no idea what songs we should be singing around a campfire, do you have any suggestions?
no kumbaya!

At one of my camps they used to sing "one tin soldier". At another, they sang "Dona Dona". Both good songs, they're more advanced than most of them on the site ttompatz listed. |

lowpo, if you PM me your email address, I can send you an mp3 file of one tin soldier, if you're interested. I actually used it as part of a lesson on narrative poetry in an ESL class once. |
