I appreciate there are many Americans, Canadians and Australians viewing this board so first I will say that my longing for snooker won't apply to everyone.

However, I won't patronize any of you by taking to explaining what snooker is. At the outside, Australians should know since they produced the outstandingly temperamental Quinten Hann.

I think there's been the odd Canadian player too but, as usual, the Americans take no interest (why?).

So, the question is, are there any snooker clubs in Seoul? Korea, even? If not, then I think it has to be the next (profitable) import. The Chinese love it and the Thais are snapping up the trophies at a good rate.

It's only a matter of time.

Meanwhile, please say if you know a snooker club.

Thanks

Especially to Americans, Uncle Sam n all that, kicking our butts in the Civil war as AFN so readily likes to remind us.

Just remember, the Eng in the English you teach means England.

Ahem

You're bigger than us, I know that, and so does Tony Blair big pussie Rolling Eyes

I've looked around when I've been out and have never seen a snooker table. But, if anyone else has, I'd definitely be in on that!

And andy, I'm American, so some of us do like the sport!

I just play it on Shockwave from time to time, along with 8- and 9-ball.

i'm sure your comments will no doubt endear you to the readers of this forum, especially when you are also asking them to help you..

as a fellow brit, i wouldn't mind playing snooker either- but i think its nigh on impossible in korea. i've been here three years and never seen even one table. maybe there's one in the british embassy, but i can't be sure of it.

come on man, get some balls and make a club of your own: invite others to a billiard hall and simply use the ones you bring with you (buy online) rather than the eight-ball set Koreans have around their occasional tables that have pockets. Snooker can be played on several sizes of table, including the smaller eight-ball bar type.

I know there's one in Seoul. A former student was one ofthe few Korean pro snooker players, but I could not get the name of the club where he practised. Dunno why he was being so secretive.

I solved the problem myself by having my dad ship over my set of snooker balls, so I just take them into any Dang-gu-jang now and play whenever I want.

I don't think the non-Brits have any idea of the SIZE of a snooker table. And the price.

Indeed...

....We Brits need this...

Not this!

When you play a couple of hours on a full-size, 12 foot, snooker table, your legs feel like you've been for a 5 mile walk!!!

There are SEVEN sizes of tables that snooker is played on. Last I heard.

No need to play just on the largest size.

Hmmm... I have never seen one in Korea. I played it in Thailand once, damn it is hard. Played it a few times in Canada too, also hard there! The tables were about the size of a small pond.

It's an excellent game though. I used to enjoy watching the pros on television. Have not seen that in a long time either.

Anyone ever play the one with no pockets, just a few balls? Looks interesting enough.

I've never been to a snooker hall in the UK which didn't use 12' tables. A few snooker halls may have had 6' tables for pool, but for snooker, it had to be 12' or nothing. It feels a bit silly and too easy on smaller tables. Teenagers would have 6' snooker tables in their parents garage to mess around with.

I might not be a Brit, but I'm not a total heathen. Sometimes you have to make do with what's available. It's not like I can go out and make my own table.
