I wasn't going to post this because generally these topics turn into a racist bitchfest. Oh well...
So I wasn't going to go to mudfest but got talked into going at the last minute. Actually, it was pretty fun. On the Saturday night a bunch of friends wanted to go dancing somewhere so we ended up at "Club Monkey."
Later in the evening my friend pulls out his beer bong and instantly a small crowd of Koreans wants to try it. So tons of people are buying beer and doing beer bongs and we're making tons of new friends. Pretty good times.
I was standing just on the edge of the cirlce when this Korean dude walks up to me and says, "shippal-sekki!" I just sort of looked at him and then looked away ignoring him. So he comes up beside me and says, "shippal-sekki" again. I just said "nay, majayo" and walked away. Then he lunged at me and tried to take a shot at me. I was ready to wail on him but my friend grabbed me and talked me out of it. Another Korean dude grabs the guy and pushes him away...but the attacker was feisty as hell. He grabbed the 2nd Korean guy by the throat and got around him and got me by the throat. It was crazy....his throat grab actually felt like it could rip my throat out. So then my friend gets in the middle and he decides to go for her throat and tries to choke her out. So that's when another Korean guy and I jump him and get him to the ground. We have him on the ground and it looks like security can take care of him so I get off him. Well...the other dudes couldn't hold him cuz he was so feisty and he attacked me again before being thrown out.
I'm a non-violent person except when it comes to self-defence. However, I didn't want to end up spending the night with Korean police and paying out blood money for defending myself. This is the first time in three years I've ever had anything like this happen to me in Korea. I have absolutely no idea why that guy was after me, it was pretty surreal.
Anyways, the rest of the night I had a great time. I don't blame Korea or Korean guys since I have a bunch of Korean bros that are extremely cool cats. |

Wow, between the spinal cord injuries, roman candles whizzing past your head and drunken physical assaults druring beer bong (beer bong? beer bong? I haven't done one of those since I was 17) partying, the mudfest sounds like it was a ripsnorting good time.
I'm sooo there next year. |

You're lucky there were people there helping. It sounds like he had no one on his side and everyone knew he just randomly came up to you and attacked. |

It was good that there were people around to help you out and get the guy out of there.
It seems the guy was just a violent headcase keen to ruin innocent peoples' night by starting fights.
Unfortunately, they exist everywhere though a lot more in the West, or Australia at least where I'm from. One of the things I really like about Korea is that the vast majority of drinkers here drink to have a good time and don't become violent drunks. Korean cities at night are tame compared to the West.
But, unfortunately you can't become too complacent as situations like this can occur occasionally over here. |

Seems like they're in the majority sometimes when you go out.
The worse are the ones in little gangs whereas if you are unfortunate enough to slight one of them, all of a sudden his 8 buddies are up in your face. Had no personal experience with that, though seen it plenty of times in and out of bars.
I much prefer the drinking atmosphere here compared to back home. |

OP: Were you making new friends that happened to be Korean girls?
There's your problem right there. You shouldn't even be talking to Korean girls, especially in English. You have no respect for Korean culture. I bet your Canadian. |

Yeah, I'm definitely glad about that. It was pretty obvious that I was trying to avoid getting physical with him. Even the dj stopped and was pointing to him....he was just feisty as damn hell. |

he was so feisty
Sounds like my grandmother talking about her bad fluffy white cat.
You should have started yelling at him in Elmer Fudds voice "stop being feisty you wacky wabbit" |

That mud festival was for drunken losers with too much time on their hands and not enough medication in their systems to alleviate their mental illness.
Was it fun? |

Sorry for hijacking the thread,
Mrs. Seoul, your avatar is very interesting in a disturbing kind of way. I never noticed before until you painted the islands red that it looks like a big blood splatter stain like someone getting their brains blown out. I'm famous in Korea, k-bang!
Where did you get that from? |
