Watch those food dates on stuff you buy...

I always try to remember to check dates. Even in my own country, people sometimes make mistakes and let old milk or past-date food linger on the shelf a few days.

Here in Korea, however, they will purposefully move it to the front, in hopes that it will sell quick. If you catch them at this, they play dumb. Then they try to convince you it's still good, or put it back on the shelf later.

A good hint is to grab stuff from the middle, or the back.

I was reminded of this today when I took a swig of some orange juice I purchased down the street when in a rush, and the due date was March 31, 2007. The bad thing is that I had been drinking it all week, and wasn't impressed by the taste. Crying or Very sad

What's the most out-of-date product you've seen on the shelf?

It can be confusing though because quite a few products here have a "Date of Manufacture" date instead of a best before.

So that 31st March, could well have been the date the juice was packaged not it's best before.

India does the same thing and then says somewhere else that you should consume within x days or months after the date on the packaging.
