According to this report, a NBA referee has been gambling on NBA games, including some games he officiated. There are also mob ties to this story including a year long investigation by the FBI. Wow.

Wow, it's stressful enough to ref a game legitimately, nevermind with your own bets on the game, and the mob on your back. He's probably relieved in a way.

I'll be listening to sports talk from New York (WFAN) all day today for updates, but here's the most important point:

He couldn't "fix" games - the most he could possibly do is "shave points" by influencing a few calls here and there. But if this is true, it could severely hurt the NBA since the rules are the only thing that makes sports legitimate.
