I'm trying to get back into games, and the PS3 is on my to-buy list because it can also play Blu Ray DVDs. But I hear XBOX360 will soon be able to play that format and has more interesting games.

Any suggestions on which console to buy?

I was asking myself the same question .Then I remembered I wasn't a backstabbing @sshole .

Playstation 2 saw me through some tough times . Who can forget when me and CJ took San andreas ? Or when with the help of Kratos I became the god of war ? Or when I took down those jerk collosi ...? (

Playstation 3 for me .

I bought the xbox 360. After 5 months my first one broke down. The dreaded red ring of death appearing on the console. Im in Japan so I had a bunch of free credit from one of those mega electronic stores. Figured I would just get a new one for a hundred bucks instead of having my first one sent away to be fixed. 2 months later the second one broke down. Same hardware problem.

I was a schmuck. When Im back home in canada for vacation im picking up the ps3 for sure.

That being said the xbox does have a lot of region free games, which is good for us in asia. Is ps3 region free?

My friends xbox broke down round the same time, 5 months after purchase. Get a PS3. Every playstation I've ever had lasts a long time and they have good games.

From what I gather the 360 won't be playing Bluray discs at all, only HD-DVD.

This is our generation's BETA vs. VHS. The jury's still out on which format will triumph, but from recent releases, it seems the HD-DVD format seems to have a big head start.

I've had a 360 for over a year, with no problems whatsoever. It doesn't get any better than playing on Xbox Live. Sony may have a better stand-alone console on paper, but Microsoft has been on the leading edge of online console gaming for a while. The depth added by Xbox's well-established online gaming community surpasses any technological advantages the PS3 claims to have.

Uh, Blockbuster is getting rid of HD DVD because when it offered both, 70 percent of customers rented just Blu Ray discs.

the xbox 360 will NEVER play blu-ray discs.

my 360 died after a few months (big surprise)

The PS3 is solid but right now has crappy games, but not for long Wink

I was really disappointed about how few XBox games were playable on the new machine. I don't know about the retro-compatibility of the PS3 though.

Like I said, the jury is still out.

If history is an indicator, whichever format the pr0n industry chooses will ultimately determine the victor.

The PS3's that were released at launch are fully backwards compatible. They basically have a ps2 built in (emotion chip). Now Sony decided to remove the emotion chip to save money. This sucks for everyone else now because it not fully backwards compatible any longer.
