Where in Cambodia do you plan on going to? Obviously Siem Reap is a must, I spent more time there than in Phnom Penh and am happy I did. It is a far more interesting place because of the temple and Angkor. Accomodation wise there is something for everyone in Cambodia, and super budget accomodation is readily availible. Simply don't just go wherever your moto driver reccomends. in Siem Reap, the Red Piano is nice and cheap. In Phnom Penh stay near the lake, I stayed at guesthouse #5 and though it was a great place for an independant traveller (you will have no problem finding mates there). If you have the time, avoid tours as they rush you in and out. Hire a moto driver and do the temples you want to do, this allows better freedom to see places like Beng Melea or the roulous group which are great but often overlooked. In Phnom Penh, the killing fields and Toul Sleng are obvious sights though not exactly uplifting. |
