I have signed a contract and sent off documents for a public school in Gangwon-do, and the contract they sent me was for EPIK.

When I talked to my recruiter, she told me that I have to buy the ticket myself and that I will be reimbursed within a month of arriving. When I worked in Korea before, the school payed for my ticket, although it was for a private school. I'm not even sure if I can afford to do this!!! Is this typical for EPIK?????

It's becoming more common to have to pay your own airfare and then be reimbursed when you arrive. Gangwon-do province is within the EPIK domain. They will reimburse your airfare; just be sure to keep your receipt and/or e-ticket.

There are a few recruiters who will pay the airfare and then collect from the provinces. These will advertise as the airfare being paid and not as being reimbursed.

Whether you can or want to afford it, is up to you. You should receive it back within 30 days.
