Well I won't lie, I was rather disappointed when I only got 3 responses to my musicians wanted post about 5 days ago...pretty weak considering us foreigners represent almost 1 percent of Seoul's entire population...Once again I will ask, if anyone out there plays guitar, bass or drums and would like to get together for a jam session in the vein of reggae, funk, and Seoul, please don't hesitate to msg me or email me at [email protected] ...don't give the foreign music scene a bad name here in Seoul, let's get it together...and remember, punk is bunk, play funk (just a good sayin, i actually like punk)...ez

surely you are aware of the concept of hyperbole...clearly a small exaggeration yet you still decided to comment on it...and you didn't even answer my question...do you play any of the above?

Nope. I play the recorder and tin whistle, but they're terribly hard to mic. I was just disappointed that you were looking for such a narrow range. But I bumped your thread up twice. That's a boon, right?

Maybe rather than this board, try meeting Korean musicians.

Ha. Too many messages on this thread to reply to. I will try.

I play with my instrument every day! Does that count?

...yes yes it does.

Maybe rather than this board, try meeting Korean musicians.

...I would still like to meet a few more.

I was just disappointed that you were looking for such a narrow range

...me too

I used to play trombone

...I used to play the trumpet

do you play any of the above?

...a little guitar, some egg shakers, no bass.

"guitar, bass or drums" =/= "any instruments"

...I play the mandolin. Peace.

I'm intermediate as far as skill level for Guitar. No way good enough to actually "jam" with someone. I'm very dept at the Alto Sax. however, its concert/symphonic saxophone playing, not the improv funk style.

If you got sheet music all written out for me then I'd be happy to break out my sax. Don't expect me to play anything other than whats written. If I had the talent/patience to memorize scales and train my ear to recognize notes then I'd be playing with a jazz band right now instead of teaching English.

I'm a shining example that playing music takes talent, not practice. I can play very difficult symphonic pieces, but I can't freestyle/improv worth a crap.

I think i know what you mean here, but not sure. I don't think you are saying that you can't learn music without only practicing right? Wait a second, I don't think I even know what I am saying.

I don't live in Seoul, so I don't know the names of the clubs, but I know that there are open mics going on around Seoul. We have a few here in Daegu, so you must have more than us. Have you checked out any open mics to meet musicians?

that's the place to do it. There is one in Bundang I have been to on Wednesday nights. Some good musicians there.

Just moved to Bundang within the week. Don't have any instruments currently as I couldn't get them on the plane and they were too nice to risk bringing. I may have them shipped or just buy cheap replacements to last. With that said I play:

Lead/Rhythm guitar: mainly country, blues, rock, soul

Slide guitar: Electric or Dobro

Banjo: intermediate

Pedal steel: Beginning

Piano: Some

*again. I don't have any instruments here at the moment, but will have them shipped or acquire replacements after I recieve my first paycheck. That said. PM if you are interested in a Jam still and I will give you my phone #

I can play music, but I'm not a musician. What I mean is, I'm a musical robot. You give me music and I play whats written there. I don't improvise and I don't just jam out and play what comes natural.

Whats natural to me is looking at sheet music and playing whats written there. If I don't see the notes then I can't play.
