The DVD burner on my laptop doesn't seem to be recognising blank disks when I put them in. It was working fine last week but not anymore. Whenever I put a disk in, the light stays on like it's doing something continuously. I've tried 2 brands of disks so that's not the problem. Any suggestions?? I'm not too hot on computers.
Thanks

When you explore the D: drive, what capacity does it show?

I had a problem, most of my DVD's had rubbish or an empty file on them.
This made them unusable.

How about doing a system restore, to a couple of weeks ago?

It doesn't show any capacity because it isn't recognizing the disk. It just seems to keep trying to read it continuously. It's weird cos it reads disks with something on them just fine, but just not the blanks.

What's a system restore??

Make sure that you are not using DVD- in a DVD+ burner (or vice versa). this is probably not your problem as most burners can do both, but it's a maybe (esp if it is an old burner)

Hey,

I had this same problem with my laptop. First I bought those cheaper DVR-R discs....the computer wouldn't recognize them. So I tried the Imation DVD-RW disc and the computer accepted those.

anyways try it...it worked for me...
