haha! I love politician speak. It's fairly obvious they went for a city with a nice-looking skyline but not one that would be immediately recognizable to anyone outside of the few Canadians educated enough to read the Economist. |

How do you know how many Canadians read the economist, compared to other countries? If I was to hazard a guess, I would say that the readership is reflective of socio-economic lines, not on nationalities. Canada has a highly educated populace, including world-class professionals. In fact, Microsoft recently opened an office in Vancouver so it can get around restrictive Visa arrangements, in order to hire Canadians.
Whenever I've read the Economist (I don't have a PhD or Masters, can you believe it?), it's been heavy on U.S. news, and light on Canadian news. I'd say that based on the size of Canada's economy, and it's historical leadership on humanitarian issues and global participation, it gets short-shrift from the editors of that publication. It is basically a European-framed and partially U.S.-framed agenda. I wonder how many Europeans and Americans are educated enough to read Macleans? |

There was a national TV ad I saw regularly, that featured and edit4ed version of Toronto's skyline, as seen from Toronto Island.
The Skydome was visible, but the CN tower was taken out.
I wish i could remember the company in question. |

If it was a national Korean ad, I remember seeing that ad too. I think it was for a car company, possibly Hyundai or Samsung. |

Yeah, it was one of the biggies i think.
I was too busy picking out things i recognized, to notice the company's name.
Pretty lame when a korean company uses a foreign city to promote a proud korean product. |
