Does anyone know if Black Sheep is going to be showing at Korean cinemas? It's opening in the UK next week.

Haha, I thought the same thing. I heard the "fat man in a little coat" scene from Tommy Boy took the country by storm.

I doubt it. Comedies don't seem to do so well here. They just don't seem to understand a lot of our (western) humor (drug references etc...). Blades of Glory wasn't released here, so i highly doubt a small budget Kiwi flick has much of a chance of getting released. Best bet would be having someone ship you it or downloading it online somewhere.

My Canadian friend watched it and didn't get half the jokes.

There are many loosely referenced gags to things kiwiana.

The Toyota 'Bugger' commercial
The "where would you be without your gumboots" song.
Peter Jackson's earlier splatter movies
The G.E debate

There would be lots lost in translation as well.

What would "rattle your dags" translate to in Korean?

Not to mention:

A. "*beep*!!......The sheep!!

B. "No time for that, get in the truck"

All Koreans would understand is sheep eating people. Unfortunately, it wouldn't add to most Korean's knowledge of New Zealand which extends to "Sheep, many-many" "Beautiful country" and "Kiwifruit, good".

I believe there is a scene where a mad sheep tears out the throat of an Asian investor. If he's Korean NZ is going to be in big trouble.
